Maybe it's because I saw him triple in bottom of the 9th against San Diego to ignite a walkoff rally last year, but even before then, I fell in love with the possibility of what Nelly's bat could be in the middle of the lineup. At this point, I don't know if he'll ever get there, but I can't bring myself to give up on the dream yet.
It's definitely hard to envision him getting his 2023 mojo back, but I'm with you, there's still hope he can reclaim 80% of what he showed that season. And the possibility of that is why I don't think KC will DFA him.
Of course, it could be I'm just desperate for that big bat in the middle of the lineup and I'm deluding myself into what I want to see. Case in point, I predicted Franmil Reyes to have a monster season a couple years back and we all saw how that worked out. Granted, I believe Nelly is a better bet at this stage of their respective careers, but I still wouldn't put money on it.

Haha! Nelly Nukes does have the added benefits of a little speed and willingness to take a walk -- neither of which Reyes ever did.
To be fair, I might have been blinded to his shortcomings because of the way he absolutely destroyed KC when he was in Cleveland!
